Riding with purpose.

Wednesday I was allowed to ride a little, I could meet at 7:30, so when Joe met me, we got a call from a friend saying they broke there chain, so we road out to the swope trails with a new quick link and chain tool.

On a normal ride, it seems boring to me, there's no real objective, there's no goal or finish line, its just riding and pacing cars. Sometimes it gets fun but in this heat, I'd almost rather ride my trainer in my dark garage.

We fix the chain, ride back, after 25 miles and its 9pm I realize I had left my keys out at swope. Yeah! Now I get to have a nother ride with purpose, out to swope at 6am to get my keys, luckily they were still there and I got in 2 good rides in 12 hours...not bad, considering I haven't ridden much at all since Sunday.

I'm 90% sure I'm not racing this weekend, my wife will be having our 2nd baby soon, so I am trying to get as much rest and sleep as possible before hand. Plus I think its gonna be about 110degrees out there both days.

I've been trying the new xt pedals out this week. I didn't like them at first, but after a ride the springs broke in a little and now they are pretty smooth. The engagement is spot on, and there's way more surface area contact between the pedal and shoe for better power transfer, kind of like the look quartz. They weigh 348 grams, my eggbeaters with ti spindles weigh in about 219, so thats a good weigh penalty right there... but the more I ride the xt, the more I like them...
