Weekend and cheap stuff.

Had a good weekend for riding and weather. Saturday morning we had close to 20 show up for the team ride, 3.5 hours later I was home doing dishes, then back to the store to get ready for Street Cred.

I rolled around this topic all day, I have never done the cx race at the bottoms, and couldn't decide between my spooky road bike or my 29er single speed.

Figuring I would spin out too much on my 9er, I went with the spooky. Very bad. It was like taking a swiss army knife to a nuclear war. The course was actually perfect for a 29er, with the exception of a little pavement...there was mud everywhere, and lots of snow banks to jump. I started out in ok position, then hit the mud and lost a few spots, then hit the next mud section, then the next, I had fallen back to 7th or so, then go to pavement into a headwind and got up to 3rd before flatting, this was all in the first 4 minutes of the race.

I walked for a while, maybe 5 minutes, last place had passed me, of the 20 rider field, and found Levon taking pictures. He let me take his bike, his 26" geared bike. The seat was way to low but it didn't matter, the tires had air. I battled back to 4th or 5th. It was a very cool race, the bottoms are super flat but the loading docks gave you some vertical challenge.

In the end my feet were frozen, I was covered in mud, and I genuinely felt like I had just raced a cx race. My thighs were on fire due to the very low saddle and I could feel the effects of the 3.5 hour ride earlier.


Sunday we had the gothr ride at 1pm, we had lots of riders here too. Ride was about 3 hours at a fast pace the whole time. Lots of wind and climbing.
